Packet to OSI (PTO) Gateways

QCOM Packet To OSI (PTO) Gateways provide OSI/CLNP to TCP/IP conversion and concentration. This enables communication of two OSI based machines through a TCP/IP network.

The PTO software runs on a Sun Solaris based environment using Sun's Sunlink 8.1 or Solstice 9.0 OSI stacks.

PTO can be considered as a bridge between the OSI world and the TCP/IP world. It consists of two parts, the PTO Initiator Gateway and the PTO Responder Gateway, both of which provide protocol conversion and concentration between OSI/CLNP and TCP/IP.

The following figure shows an example of network configuration using PTO Gateways.

PTO Initiator Gateway
The PTO Initiator Gateway waits for a connection from a connecting OSI device, which is acting as the Initiator of the OSI connection. It supports the following features:
PTO Responder Gateway
The PTO Responder Gateway connects to the responder OSI device upon inspection of the NSAP address contained in the message originated from the OSI Initiator. In terms of features, it supports the following: The QCOM PTO Gateways can also be customized to suit your specific application and configuration.
